In January 1791, Noverre sent an application to Gustaf III in order to get a position as a choreographer at the royal court in Stockholm. The application consisted of two volumes, including a letter to the king, ballet programs, and 147 costume designs by Boquet. These volumes are kept to be consulted at the National Library of Sweden. The manuscript represents an important piece of information on the situation of Noverre’s towards the end of his career. It is also a point of departure in shedding new light on French influences on the Royal Swedish Ballet at that time.
